There doesn't seem to be many books written on this popular holiday destination for Mexicans. I picked up thie Kindle version of this travel book as it was not written by a mainstream publisher/author.I liked how the book was laid out and has price indications. For example El Palomar restaurant is in the book and the prices $$ were comparable to US restaurant prices with quality food. We asked a few restaurant owners if they had heard of Los Arcos Taqueira, as our Taxi driver could not find it. This was mentioned on location 627 of the Kindle book. Probably this was a restaurant impacted by the virus challenge.I think there is a lot more information that the author(s) could have included, like how certain restaurants will add on items you did not consume, you never get the gas you pay for at the gas station, and rentals require insurance purchased at the local company otherwise they won't let you rent the car. Also paying in local currency is better, since you will pay more if you pay in USD. Plus the book was published in 2020 and was probably written/started in 2019, so in 2021 there may be some info. that will not be correct.TIPS: If your are not use to paying in PESOS, always charge on your credit card in local currency, as your bank will give you a better exchange rate than the local outlet you are buying from. For example: Chankanaab Beach Park has prices in USD, but if you ask for the price for locals (need local ID) and pay in Pesos you will save 50%, or 3-4 USD (depending on exchange rate and if you have local ID) per ticket. Pesos cash is better, as there is no fee for the locals to pay to credit/banks etc. Also negotiate your taxi fare before you start your journey. You will save mucho dolares!Since the virus challenges many restaurants are no longer open and some have even closed for good. There was a local taco place called "Mr Tacos" which was not in the book and had lines of people waiting to order their take-aways. How do you find it? Ask a Taxi driver that was born in Cozumel.Overall the book was easy to navigate and has most of the information you need if you were visiting for a week. I will recommend this to anyone who visits and reads travel books to learn more about the place they are visiting prior to getting there.
